As the climate crisis unravels, we are witnessing record wildfires, massive hurricanes, and intense heatwaves. Texas is a primary epicenter of the fossil fuel empire, and further exploitation of the Permian Basin in West Texas will lock in catastrophic climate change. Kinder Morgan’s 42″-wide Permian Highway Pipeline, designed to transfer fracked gas from West Texas to the Gulf Coast, is an unacceptable assault on all forms of life.
Together with the global swell of movements organizing against structural racism and police violence, now is the time to rise up and stop the toxic industry which threatens our health, environment, water, and collective survival.
During this Teach-In on Thursday, October 1 from 7-8:30 pm, we’ll hear from organizers involved in the fight for climate justice in Central Texas. The speakers will offer an overview of the Permian Highway Pipeline and other oil & gas pipelines in Texas, the impacts of these toxic pipelines in our communities and our world, and what a Just Transition can look like for Texas.
