Dr. Jules Elkins, a professor at the University of Texas in the Department of Geography and the Environment, will be presenting a talk on the toxins associated with energy production and their impact on the neurological development of children. Her presentation is part of our campaign to close the Fayette Coal Plant (FCP) and move us away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible.
Second, if you have been collecting signatures on our petition to Austin City Council, please bring those to the meeting and give them to Danny Fetonte or Bobbie Tsukahara.
Third, in addition to our usual collection to support 350 Austin’s work, we will be taking a special donation for Earth Day Austin. They sustained heavy financial losses when last month’s terrible storm forced them to re-schedule. We will provide a special basket for cash and check donations.
- Donations to 350 Austin can be made by cash, credit card, check payable to “350 Austin”, or by using this link.
- Special gifts to Earth Day by cash or checks payable to “Earth Day Austin”.
Fourth, please invite your friends, especially those in the pediatric medical professions or who live in the communities most impacted by the Fayette coal plant.
Fifth and finally, FOOD! There will be a cake to honor all of our terrific volunteers and to make our guests feel welcome. Please feel free to bring finger foods and beverages to share.
We look forward to seeing you and your friends!
