Austin 350 Reading Group Discussion – 7/24/2018

Tuesday July 24, 2018 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Cepeda Branch Library, 651 N Pleasant Valley Rd, Austin

Join us for a lively, stimulating, and often deep discussion with some really interesting people! This month we will be discussing the article:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s climate plan is the only one that matches scientific consensus on the environment

https://qz.com/1316082/alexandria-ocasio-cortezs-green-new-deal-could-make-the-us-a-climate-change-leader/

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pulled off an upset win in a NY Democratic primary against an established incumbent, and will now likely be elected to congress this November. Her “Green New Deal” plan will be similar in scale to the mobilization efforts seen in World War II or the Marshall Plan. Let’s start the discussion with this and see where it leads.

As usual, we will meet from 7:00pm to 8:30pm on July 24th at the Cepeda Branch Library, 651 N Pleasant Valley Rd, Austin.

Hope to see you there,
Mike Ignatowski

Instead of discussing a book which almost nobody actually reads, we are changing the format to discussing short articles or videos- which are easier to handle. This month we will discuss an article and a related TED talk. Please take a look ahead of time, then come and enjoy a very lively discussion with (mostly) like-minded people. You’re more than welcome to attend even if you didn’t get a chance to check out the material ahead of time.
